Do's and dont's of startup financing

The workshop "Do's and dont's of startup financing", organized by the Chilean Venture Capital Association and sponsored by Amazon Web Services Latam, ended successfully.

During two days, ACVC member exhibitors and more than 35 attendees reviewed the basics and content necessary to understand the venture capital industry and how to value a startup.


Stefanie Sherman, manager of Digevo Ventures, kicked off the day by presenting the details of the startup funding process.

Then Marcelo Díaz, Managing Partner of Weboost, spoke about the relationship between fund managers and startups, and Cristóbal Silva, General Partner of Kayyak Ventures, shared the secrets of what to expect and deliver when facing a venture capital fund.

Meanwhile, Paz María González, co-founder of Wited, a platform that seeks to simplify student learning, shared her story in a conversation with Marcelo Díaz.

From Miami, Francisco Guzmán, president of ACVC, spoke about the legal and financial perspective of capital raising, as well as the complexities and possible solutions that may arise in the process.

Sebastián González, Head of Venture Partnerships at Wayra Hispam, went into the details of Corporate Venture Capital and how companies have seen in the VC ecosystem an opportunity to increase their competitive advantages.

Francisco Guzmán closed the first day with an interview with Daniela Baytelman, co-founder of
Easycancha, who shared her experience in entrepreneurship and raising capital.

On the second day of the workshop, Sebastián Gilbert, Managing Partner of Dadneo, presented and discussed in depth two of the startup valuation models, while from Peru Eduardo Peláez, Principal of Krealo, gave tips to consider when valuing a startup.
