The first ACVC Summit was a resounding success!

With all the tickets sold out, a waiting list, and an incredible attendance, this event is here to stay, marking a milestone in venture capital in Chile.

Nearly 500 investors, relevant players in the ecosystem and entrepreneurs gathered to share experiences and network. It was a day full of panels, conversations and exchanges that help us to take another step in the development of the venture capital ecosystem in our country.

DFMAS took a tour of this successful journey.

The event began with the presentation of Magdalena Guzmán, executive director of ACVC, who in turn gave the floor to Francisco Guzmán, president of the association. He gave the official welcome to the event, but also gave figures of the institution, which already has more than 100 active investors, and asked the audience: why is #VentureCapital important, recalls the note.

He also highlighted that at least in the last 15 years "there have been initiatives that not only support this, but have even been deepening it". He went on to say that "investing in this asset is key. First, because it has been proven to be profitable (...) When we talked about this in the past, we have to explain that venture capital is not philanthropy," he said.

Then Francisco Guzmán himself was in charge of leading the dialogue between Manuel Medina, founder of Medina Ventures and eMerge Americas (one of the most important events in the tech world in Miami), and the Chilean Alejandro Algaze, managing director of Silicon Valley Bank. DFMAS conducted an in-depth interview with the latter, highlighting, among other topics, the process that the bank has undergone this year.

During the day, attendees were also able to witness the conversations that took place in different panels with the Brazilian fund monashees (William Mimassi), the Mexican Dalus Capital (Diego Serebrisky), and the Miami-based TheVentureCity (Andrés Dancausa), among others. In addition to the interesting presentation by J.P. Morgan's head of strategy for the Southern Cone Diego Celedon.

DFMAS noted that many of those present commented that it was a great event because of the level of the call, but also because of the importance of uniting the tech ecosystem.
