Entrepreneurial ecosystem to receive a strong injection of funds

Chilean funds should have a strong venture capital investment, say experts. Another good news of the great year that Chilean startups and entrepreneurship are experiencing in the country.

El Diario Financiero made an analysis on the matter supported by the opinions of Francisco Guzmán, president of the Chilean Venture Capital Association, Andrés Pesce, general manager of Kayyak Ventures, Andrés Meirovich, managing partner of Genesis Ventures, Claudio Barahona, managing partner of Alaya Capital Partners, Felipe Matta, general partner of Chile Ventures, and Pablo Fernández, venture capital fund manager of Endurance Investments.

In the note Andres Pesce said: "We are moving to another level and the ecosystem is consolidating, although there is still much to develop, there was a change of speed in the operation because the funded companies show that they can challenge the industry and that it is a healthy ecosystem".

Francisco Guzmán said that it is difficult to determine the amount in figures of the local industry, but that it has been growing at rates of 80% annually and that by the amounts of transactions that have existed between 2020 and 2021 this percentage has doubled. "Until recently it was necessary to explain what venture capital was to investors, entities and academia. Today the conversation is easier with these successes (Cornershop and NotCo), but the work has been going on for years," he says.
