Venture capital and international treaties

Cristián Velasco, Managing Partner of Weboost and director of ACVC, was part of the discussion "International treaties and trade policies in the 21st century" organized by the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.

In the panel "Future FTAs and trade agreements: The promotion of Chile as an investment destination", the director of the ACVC together with Paula Estévez Weinstein, general manager of AmCham Chile; Rodrigo Wagner, academic of the UAI Business School; and Nicolás Grimblatt, cabinet advisor of the Undersecretary of International Economic Relations; analyzed the existing opportunities for the promotion of the country as an investment destination.

Cristián Velasco stressed the importance of the higher risk investment in early stages made by venture capital funds, but which in turn bet on the generation of value in the medium and long term. "There has to be capital available for entrepreneurship to be boosted and encouraged," he said.

Regarding free trade agreements and venture capital, he said that Chile should become the Delaware of Latin America to attract more investment by increasing incentives.
