Innovation as a tool to face contingencies

ACVC was part of the meeting organized by Industrial and Systems Engineering of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Diario Financiero, where the value of innovation in the current context was analyzed.

"SMEs do not have the luxury of having an R&D department, as they have trouble making ends meet. But what the more consolidated ones can do is to opt for open innovation and invest in startups," said Magdalena Guzmán, executive director of the ACVC. And this, she continued, "is something that could be incorporated into public policies, where there are tax benefits for investing in startups".

The round table "The challenges of contingency in the company: The value of innovation", was moderated by Teresita Espinoza, deputy director of DF, and counted with the participation, in addition to the executive director of ACVC, of Mike Leatherbee, UC academic and chairman of the board of Start-Up Chile, Julio Pertuzé, former undersecretary of economy, Maria de los Angeles Romo, manager of Start-up Chile, Gina Ocqueteau, director of companies, Marcos Rivas, president of the Chilean Association of Entrepreneurs (Asech), Alan Garcia, director of the SOFOFA Hub, Jorge Salvatierra, president of CAP, and Felipe Alcalde, manager of Innovation at CMPC.
