Venture capital was again present at Chile Day in London

Venture Capital was present at the first day of Chile Day London, organized by InBest Chile and the Ministry of Finance.

In the panel dedicated to the topic, which was moderated by Francisco Guzman, President of ACVC and Director of InBest, the conversation focused on financing. Rashid Zuberi, Managing Partner of Oxbridge Ventures, highlighted the need to find opportunities in emerging markets, in addition to how talent is everywhere. "The important thing is to know how to show the world that talent, as well as the complementarity and diversity in entrepreneurship," he said.

Trinidad Carmona, CEO of Drillco and Partner of Women in Mining Chile, shared the vision of a highly specialized company that has grown organically. She also stressed that in order to continue developing complex industries, such as mining, it is necessary to focus on the technical and find solutions using technology, in addition to working with universities.

Hans Pieringer, Chief Executive Officer and founder of PhageLab, focused on the experience his biotech company has had with different VCs and how they have contributed smartmoney throughout its development. At every stage, the value they added has been critical to the startup, he emphasized. PhageLab, dedicated to the development of bacteriophage-based products for the livestock industry and operating in several markets, including Brazil, is preparing to raise its series B.

Later, José Miguel Benavente, executive vice-president of Corfo, led a round table discussion in which about 40 English and Chilean participants related to the VC asset, who were specially invited. The interesting conversation touched on topics such as Corfo's historical programs that support entrepreneurship in Chile, the promotion of venture capital, green hydrogen and lithium, among others.
